Animal Testing Cruelty

This picture shows a dog that was purposely shot in order to do experiments in warfare research. This type of research is done to see how people would react to different weapons and how instrumental they would be during wartime, and dogs are used as the test subjects. The dog in this picture is going through surgery after being shot, which is also part of the experiment. There are two researchers in the picture; one is performing the surgery and the other is holding down the dog. The dog’s mouth has been closed to prevent any possible problems. It is important to note that his eyes are opened and they appear sad and withdrawn.

The argument takes an opposing view on animal testing because it leads to cruel and inhumane treatment of animals. The dog is helpless to the situation and appears to be victimized judging from his eyes and position. This implies that animal research facilities are not compassionate towards the animal when it comes to harsh experiments, and do not consider the pain that the subject is experiencing. The picture argues that animals do suffer at the mercy of humans even though they are completely innocent. Weapons are only intended to be used against enemies or criminals; to shoot a harmless animal cannot be justified. It is a good visual for an argument that opposes animal testing because it is representing the animals that have been abused in the name of research.

The situation is able to impact the viewer emotionally. The suffering that the dog is being forced to endure can make the audience feel sadness for the animals that are being treated this way. It can incite anger as well towards the research facilities that perform such experiments that can perceived as unethical. The dog in the picture is helpless and his eyes show his suffering. This is effective emotional appeal because it shows how these animals are experiencing pain, and it is humans that have to advocate for what is right. http://www.animalexperimentspictures.com/photo/312

  1. This picture definitely provokes the viewer to have an emotional reaction. I'm not an animal lover, however I'm really disturbed that these kinds of things happen to innocent little animals. I also think that this pictures helps to get your point across about research facilities not being compassionate. Also, the fact that this animal was shot on purpose is insane. Dogs and weapons are not compatible and should never come in contact, except for a really good reason.
