Dog Fighting

A recently forced participant in illegal dog fighting, this puppy has suffered extensively at the hands of his cruel owners. His face was literally ripped off as his opponent's teeth bit and held on to his jowls and other excess skin. Is the price of our entertainment really so high as to condone such brutality?
This picture shows the disgusting truth behind dog fighting and those who participate in the activity. Anyone who can cheer on such a clear act of violence is not someone who we should want around our families; after all, how defined is the line between brutalizing an animal and a human being?
This is a clear argument against animal abuse because the pain in the puppies eyes is easily read. His injures are impossible to deny and his suffering is palpable. The image evokes feels of anger and sadness, not only for the poor animals undeniable suffering but also for what such an image says about todays society.

  1. Although I am not a big fan of pets, I do realiza when someone crosses the border. I believe that dog fighting is an activity that just isn't called for at all. Although activities such as hunting and shooting at birds and deer are bad as well, those animals are shot to death. But dogs on the other hand, are alive and face the brutality. They feel the pain such as their skin being ripped off and being beat upon. Just by looking at the picture, I can just imagine what this animal has gone through and also, just for this poor dog to be alive afer what its been through is just a miracle.

  2. Out of all the pictures contained in this blog, I would have to say that this one stuck out the most for me. When I see this picture of the tortured dog I start to think about my own dog and if he was tortured. I believe that animal abuse is a hard topic for people to come to one clear agreement on. If we treat animals like humans then we would not be able to hunt them. What is the difference from torturing a dog and killing game for sport? Torturing a human is no better than killing a human by instant death. Both acts have a consequence of serving time in jail. So if a person can be but in jail for killing a dog, then why can they not be but in jail for killing game.

  3. Hunting for sport is illegal in just about any civilized country. Hunting for food which most hunters do is perfectly fine. In fact most hunters are better conservationists than the majority of the population. But, on dog fighting I say eye for an eye, Michael Vick should be put in a ring with a few of his dog fighting friends and be forced to duel to the death. The dog in the picture is actually a female and her story is a tear jerking tale it happened a few years ago. I was looking for an update on her health when I stumbled across this site.

Wishing Suzie the Pitbull all the best and good health.
