Toyota: The Ichiban of the Auto Industry

In a society that we live in today, it is perceived that if a company is bigger that it must be better. The picture that you see here is a Bankruptcy Form from the Southern District of New York. Here is the stereotypical document for all individuals to fill out. If you look closely what you will see will surprise you. The individual filling out for bankruptcy is General Motors Corporation.
I am here to argue that even with the events that have taken place recently, I believe Toyota is the #1 automobile manufacturer in the world. While giants like Ford and GM have been the perennial number one and two for more than the past 70 years, what they fail to realize is that Toyota has been slowly coming from behind and now has the top position. Toyota's rise to the top had many factors: sales dominance, steady growth, much-better-than-industry-average shareholder returns, off-the-charts consumer loyalty ratings, and some of the happiest employees in the world. Toyota has not had a money-losing quarter in more than half a century. But the key factor in Toyota's remarkable and inspirational success is not to be the biggest, just the best. Through proven and time-tested way of progression, improvement, ambition, and betterment, Toyota is without a doubt the number one car company on the planet.
