It's Not Bye, It's See You Later...

The hurt in this little girl’s eye as her daddy is leaving again to war is heart breaking. My topic is Army brats, The Physiological Effect on Children. With this picture it is clear how a child feels when they have to let go of their parent for them to leave. This child does not understand the reason why he has to leave. All she knows is that daddy is going to be gone for a long time. So what goes through a child’s mind when their parent leaves? How does this affect their ability to grow up as health adults? I think this is a great picture to represent how hard it is for children to say bye. The little girl does not want to let go. Her hand is clenched on her dad’s pants as tightly as possible. In this picture it can be said that even though a child has to let go of their parent, what they don’t understand at this young age is all the opportunities they get to have being a part of the military life. Children get to experience and see different parts of the world. They learn discipline, and have great educational opportunities. The military can be a difficult place to grow up but it could also be a great atmosphere to grow up in. The bonds that are made are indescribable. Kids grow up around people that understand what they are going through and with all the help and support they need to excel in life. Looking in form the outside like in this picture all you can see is the momentary hurt not the long term happiness. I firmly believe that children need support, structure, places to go to when they need to, and sometimes have somebody else than your parent to talk to, to excel in everyday struggles. The military offers all of that and more. In today’s military when a solder deploys it is not for more than one year, and they have to stay home for the same amount of time that they deploy before deploying again. This helps when it comes to a child being able to make up the time the parent is gone. The military is not for everybody, but the ones that choose to be a part of it know that sometimes there might be some sacrifices but at the end it is always worth the struggle.
